HSC students who can’t sit exams because of the bushfires have a few options.
The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) advises HSC students in bushfire affected areas to contact their school if unsure whether exams will occur, or if it is unsafe to reach an examination venue.
NESA advises that if you are cut off from attending your exam centre by a bushfire, you may attend a neighbouring school on exam day if it is safe to do so.
NESA said it will liaise with examination Presiding Officers and school principals and update information about the situation where this is possible, and that information may change at short notice as further updates are received.
Any student in this situation should notify their school as soon as possible and remember never put yourself at risk in order to reach an examination centre.
If you are unable to attend an examination due to a natural disaster you are eligible to lodge an Illness/Misadventure appeal.
This ensures that you are not further disadvantaged by factors out of your control.
