There are several tough matchups in Round 2 of the LJ Hooker League competition on Saturday.

Marist Brothers are coming off a tough win in Round 1 after narrowly defeating Lennox Head by 3 wickets.

They head north on Saturday to take on the reigning premiers, the Cudgen Hornets.

The match is a grand final rematch for the two sides, with Cudgen taking the title last season, with Brothers hoisting the trophy the season prior.

The Hornets had a good win in Round 1 and have had very few changes in the off season.

The same can't be said of the Lismore side, with a new English import and several changes to the 2024/25 side.

The match will be a good gauge of where both sides are at early on in the season and they will both be chasing the vital 7 competition points.

Goonellabah Workers Sports will host Alstonville at Mortimer Oval in the second round and they will look to continue their blistering start to the season.

The Cooper brothers were outstanding for the GWS side last week and teams will be looking to take their wickets early in the one-day format this year.

In other matches, Casino host Tintenbar East Ballina, Tweed travel to Lennox Head and Terranora Lakes and Pottsville clash up north.

All matches will start at 1:00pm.
