After a solid season that did not end the way they wanted, Lismore Thistles are already planning for 2022 and beyond.

The Premier League squad finished fifth and were looking to push towards a Grand Final spot before restrictions prevented Football FNC from completing the competition.

Club President Cam Latimer was swift in setting up plans for the future.

"I am pleased to announce the re-signing of Chris Layland as Lismore Thistles Premier League Coach."

"Chris came on board last year with a vision to see the club again win titles. After a challenging start to the year, his approach and strategies started to come to fruition from late June, seeing the Premier League Team win four of their last five matches only conceding one goal in competitive play which resulted in a draw."

Thistles were in a prime position heading into the finals until lock down ended the season.

Layland was keen to remain onboard and continue with unfinished business.

"I am keen to follow on from last season's unfortunately abrupt ending. The teams form and spirit was high and this will carry though to the 2022 season, it will be fun"

"We have a young skilful side with a lot of potential."

Latimer was also full of praise for Premier League speedster Jye Wilson, "We were also very pleased to have Jye Wilson named FFNC Player of the Year."

"Jye has played a pivotal role in Thistles success this year through his training etiquette, speed and a nice bag of seven goals."

"On behalf of Lismore Thistles I welcome Chris back on board and look forward to a very exciting future for our club."

"We welcome both new, existing and previous players to the club, whether it be to play or coach or just simply to be involved, as we see an exciting future for Thistles moving forward."
