Motorcyclist dies after Bruxner Highway crash

A motorcyclist has died following a crash near Lismore yesterday.

About 3.50pm yesterday, Monday April 27, emergency services were called to the Bruxner Highway, Alphadale, following reports a Triumph motorcycle and a Nissan Pulsar collided.

Police and paramedics treated the 61-year-old male motorcyclist at the scene, before he was taken to Lismore Base Hospital where he died this morning.

Richmond Police District Inspector David Vandergriend said "at this stage, local police are continuing investigations in relation to the cause of the accident".

"But it is believed the rider was at fault,” he said.

Inspector Vandergriend said there was some light rainfall and some wet roads at the time of the accident.

“It is a timely reminder for drivers to take care on roads that haven’t been wet for a while and to drive to conditions,” he said.

The driver of the Nissan, a 17-year-old teenage girl, was uninjured and taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
