A last-minute Lennox Head try has denied Lismore their first win of the season in FNC Rugby Union.

Lismore headed east to take on the Trojans with confidence, and the match definitely started that way.

In a very stop start first half, the Lismore side made the most of a breeze at their backs, with the better of the field position and possession in the first stanza.

It resulted in a try to Aggrey Leju in the 28th minute and further possession allowed prop Tate Bailey to dive over on halftime to have the Lismore side leading 12-0 at the break.

Unfortunately for the visitors, the breeze then helped the home side get back into the match, with 3 unanswered tries to see Lennox lead 17-15 with just minutes to go.

Hooker Cody Johnston was able to score to give Lismore the lead late in the game and it seemed that the Greens may hold on.

But a try in the dying minutes by Lennox Head's Thomas Monteith denied the Greens their first win of the season, going down 22-20.

Reserve Grade and Colts also went down to the Trojans, with all teams set to regroup midweek before they take on Ballina in Ballina next weekend.
