Flood inspires former Lismore tattooist to cartoon

When former Lismore tattooist Stevi Lee Alver saw the devastation caused by the recent floods, she was inspired to draw a political cartoon - and she sent it to the Lismore App.

Stevi Lee originally a nurse, opened 'The Ink Atelier' tattoo shop, in Goonellabah in 2020. Read more: New tattoo shop brings Stevi Lee's ink to Goonellabah

Stevi Lee then sold her business late last year before she went travelling around Australia. The Goonellabah shop then became Hinterland Ink, which was set on fire in January this year. Read more: Tattoo Parlour set on fire on Ballina Road

Stevi Lee said her cartoon was inspired by the recent actions of the Federal Government in spending money on buying submarines, but showing very little action on climate change.

"It's a joke," Stevi Lee said. "The tag line for my cartoon should be:

'Australia is taking real action on climate change and getting results', Scott Morison tells current world leaders.

'Future generations will thank us. Thank us not for what we have promised, but what we deliver.'"
