Clive Guthrie, a wardsman and licensed security officer at Lismore Base Hospital, has hit his seventh hole-in-one, his fifth at Lismore Workers Golf Club, a truly staggering achievement.
Clive had achieved a hole-in-one, a unattainable dream for many golfer professional or amateur golfers, at the fifth hole twice, the 11th hole and 16th hole at the challenging par 70 Lismore Workers Golf Club.
"It happened on the second hole and I thought my luck had run out," said Clive.
Clive's remarkable golfing achievement
Clive Guthrie has a love for the par threes on Lismore Workers Golf Club.
Clive had playing partners Tony Trent, John McCaffrey and Ray Kirkland when he stepped up to the tee with his pitching wedge on the 125-metre par three second hole.
"With the pitching wedge I put it on the green, a metre from the hole, and it trickled on into the hole," said Clive, who achieved his seventh hole-in-one on Tuesday, January 21.
"I was a bit stunned but my three friends yelled out.
"I was not expecting another one."
The hole was nominated for a nearest the pin prize. When the foursome walked onto the green to see the ball in the hole, there had to remove a nearest the pin marker, which belonged to the club president Tim Gilmore.
"Tim had hit a very good shot, so close to the hole. l think he thought he had got the prize," said Clive.
Clive put the ball that went straight into the hole into his pocket for it to be mounted and presented at a later date.
The trophies for his hole-in-one shots decorate a shelf at Clive Guthrie's home. There's another on the way.
An 11 handicap player, I asked Clive how did his round go after his amazing hole-in-one?
"It spectacularly fell apart apart that. I finished a couple above my handicap," he said.
