It is not often that Lismore and the Northern Rivers has an opportunity to see world-class musicians performing, especially since the Workers Club has been closed.
That is about to change on Saturday, October 21 when acclaimed Spanish flamenco guitarist Paco Lara, performs at the Start Court Theatre.
Paco is bringing the soul and spirit of Spanish flamenco as he tours New South Wales and the rest of Australia promoting his new album 'Duende', self-produced album of original compositions.
This show presents a stunning live performance of flamenco guitar with a fusion of music, song and flamenco dance performed by Lara and his talented ensemble.
Promoter Deya Miranda says the acclaimed Spanish flamenco guitarist, will inspire and capture the imagination of the Lismore audience.
Paco Lara was born Francisco Lara Puerto in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, known as the birthplace and cradle of flamenco.
Paco came from a musical family and started playing guitar when he was only 8 years old and at 16, he began working professionally as a flamenco guitarist with one of his brothers, singer José Lara, recording 2 albums and touring extensively.
Later, Paco was also mentor and promoter of his other brother, guitarist and composer Santiago Lara, who won the renowned La Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla (2000), Spain’s most prestigious guitar competition.
In 2017, he migrated to Australia from Jerez, and now his style, halfway between traditional and contemporary Flamenco, is contributing to increased popularity and understanding of this musical genre in Australia, especially in New South Wales where Paco lives.
It was his performances at The Sydney Opera House (27/03/2021) and at The Adelaide Guitar Festival (09/07/2021) that brought him the highest accolades and placed Paco's flamenco guitar music at the very top of the Australian music scene. Today, he is recognised as the most prominent flamenco guitarist living in Australia.
