A 'Monster' Lismore Speedway show if rain allowsA Monster Truck performance will be the highlight of this Saturday's fixture at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway.

Stand by for ground pounding action at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway on Saturday night, if the forecast rain allows.

That's when promoter David Lander presents his annual Monster Truck Spectacular in a night of family entertainment, enhanced by the usual speedway racing programme featuring the Junior

Sedan Nationals.

There's also a monster fireworks display to add to the night's entertainment.

Fireworks fill the sky when the Monster Truck Spectacular comes to Lismore Speedway.

It's pyrotechnics perfection that will light up the night sky in a kaleidoscope of colour, but the centrepiece is the Monster Truck performance.

This earth shaking routine involves a car crunching demonstration, spectacular wheel stands and ramp jumps. It's all part and parcel of what these big machines, shod with huge tyres, can provide. Monster Trucks have been a part of the national speedway scene for over three decades and they still remain a popular attraction.

The massive roar of the V8 engine, with its own pulsating sound which vibrates throughout the ground, their high flying leaps and trampling over the top of cars, flattening them to ground level, is all part of the show.

Then there is the “roll over bike” featured this weekend which is unique. Man who has worked closely with Lander putting this very special presentation together is Queensland's Robbie Stephenson who takes his Monster Truck show to speedway tracks throughout Queensland.

“I firstly want to thank Robbie for his assistance in making the Monster Truck show happen. He is also providing the fireworks display and has been great to work with as we prepare for what will be a wonderful night of entertainment for the whole family,” Lander said.

Another highlight of the upcoming fixture is the running of the Junior Sedan Nationals. It's the blue ribbon event of the season for the youngsters and the competition will be intense from the future stars of Australian speedway.

There are any number of likely winners in the field and the Junior Sedans are a wonderful category in the framework of the national speedway scene.

Junior Sedans, and the ongoing development of talent that comes from this production line, is truly great to see.

It gives kids at a very young age (early teens average age group) the opportunity to drive on the speedway – rather than at high speed on the streets. The Junior Sedans are very well organised and

controlled with safety the prime factor. The kids also learn how to handle a car under all kinds of situations and the Junior Sedan division, right across the national speedway scene, is producing

better drivers for the road.

Junior Sedans also provide the opportunity for any driver aspiring to go further in the sport the first rung on the ladder in their entry to speedway.

How often these days do we hear about a driver who has made the grade in one of the top national speedway divisions having started his/her career in Junior Sedans? Answer: Quite often.

That's why Junior Sedans play such a vital role in Australian speedway going into the future with talent coming through the ranks.

There also will be racing for Wingless Sprintcars, Street Stocks and Production Sedans this Saturday night.

Gates open at 4pm and racing commences at 5:30pm. For more information on the April 10 fixture log on to www.lismorespeedway.com.au or phone the speedway office on 66212733 during business

hours.
