$12 million upgrade of Crozier and Oakes Oval important for Lismore’s recovery   Mayor Steve Krieg, Senator Bridget McKenzie and Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan inspecting the progress at Oakes Oval and Crozier Field.

Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan and Lismore City Council Mayor Steve Krieg this week dropped into see the progress on the major upgrade to Crozier and Oakes Oval. Funding for this project was announced in 2019.

 


Mr Hogan said the upgrade is important to get visitors and events back into our town.

 

“This means more money will be spent in local motels, restaurants, cafes and retail shops, securing the jobs of many locals,” he said.

 

“The upgrades will cater for the needs of officials, players and spectators in Rugby League, Rugby Union, Cricket, Soccer and AFL.”

 


“Once complete, Oakes Oval will be able to host 10,000 spectators, and Crozier will be able to host 8,000.”

 

Mayor Krieg said the upgrade is well underway and is due to be finished in the next few months.

 

“Through this redevelopment, we will be able to attract national and international sporting events, which is fantastic for Lismore’s future,” he said.

 


“Crozier upgrades will include a roof-top terrace, new national standard media and broadcasting facilities, new amenities, function rooms, a kiosk, and change room upgrades.

 

“Oakes Oval upgrades will include a terrace level to the rear of the main grandstand, new media and broadcasting facilities, corporate boxes, internal refurbishment to the Gordon Pavilion, and construction of new amenities.”
