Workers Baseball Club have won the 2020 Major League Baseball Title after defeating Marist Brothers two games to one.

The series win was somewhat of an upset after Marist Brothers had finished the regular season undefeated in the shortened 12 week, 10 game season.

This was a massive turnaround after Brothers finished on the bottom of the table in 2019.

Game 1 was held on Friday night under lights and proved to be the closest game of the series.

Brothers pitcher Jake Muscat was strong throughout before the experience of Matt Buckley shone in the sixth innings with a two run home run.

It broke a 4-4 deadlock to give Brothers a 6-4 victory.

Workers had to rally. Lose Game 2 on Saturday afternoon, and the title was gone.

The script was written for the decider as Game 2 went to Workers 11-5 and sent the Series in to a deciding Game 3 on Saturday night.

Game 3 saw Workers skip to an early lead which they were able to maintain throughout to run out 20-12 winners and Major League Champions for 2020.

Workers' Jason Caught, Dan and Trent Clark were strong throughout the three game series, all striking the ball well.

Across the weekend Workers' pitchers Seth McClelland (6.2 innings 9 strike outs 4 runs), Nick Battese (5 innings 3 strike outs 3 runs) and Noah Worgan pitched 7 innings over 3 games as relief and had 4 strike outs.

For Brothers' Nathan Bezrouchko struck the ball well, reaching base 11 times and veteran Matt Buckley had 7 hits including the game deciding home run in Game 1.

On the mound, Jake Muscat (7 innings 5 strike outs) and Damien Santin (6 innings 3 strike outs) stood out.
