Far North Coast swimmers have returned from the NSW Country Swimming Championships with a swag of medals.



Athletes from Alstonville Swimming Club, Lismore Workers Swim Club and Trinity Swim Club contested the Championships at the Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre in Homebush.


The Trinity Swim Club finished 6th in the overall point score with Alstonville finishing 14th.


Individually, Alstonville's Lachlan Walker was the star of the region with 1st placings in the 17 years 200IM and 400 IM, 2nd's in the 200 back, 200 fly, 200 free and the 400 free and 3rd in the 100 fly.


Lachlan was also named Age Champions and set Open Records in the 200IM and 400IM.


Alstonville's Angus Smyth and Madeline Ewing also brought home bronze and silver medals respectively.


The Trinity squad shared the medals across a number of young swimmers who impressed Head Coach Simon Watkins.

Sylas Phillips showed his liking for backstroke, with gold medals in the 14 years 100m and 200m events.


Twelve year old Finn Pengelly also won his division of the 100m backstroke.


Fellow Trinity swimmers Ella Jones, Zoe Farmer, Mitchell Hickey, Bella Teale, Millie Edwards- Bradshaw all earned place medals.

Lismore Workers Swim Team members Ben Auckram, McKinley Arnison, Andrea Thomson, William Bullpitt and Indigo Creighton all earned themselves Top 10 finishes in a number of events.
