Marist Brothers' Hooker League Final given a new dateMarist Brothers captain Brad Cleaver gets another chance to create history for Marist Brothers Cricket Club

Lismore's Marist Brothers Cricket Club have another chance to win the first Far North Coast Cricket Council L J Hooker title after it was decided to put back the final for another seven days due to the rainfall.

Marist Brothers play Minor Premiers Cudgen at Reg Dalton Oval, Kingscliff. Brothers won the L J Hooker League in 1996-97 and lost a Hooker League final against Casino RSM Cavaliers in 2009/10 and against Norths in 1994/95.

Today and tomorrow were set aside for the final but the wet weather has meant the wicket and outfield would never be playable.

"Hopefully we can play next Saturday. If not we are Joint Premiers," said Brothers captain Brad Cleaver, whose side has excelled in the 40 overs format, losing only three matches all season and deservedly finished second..

Despite that they will go into the match as underdogs as Cudgen, who have only been beaten once, have won the L J Hooker League for three successive years.

Brothers, who have not played a game of cricket since Saturday February 27, named the following squad for this afternoon's match: Brad Cleaver (captain), Tom Standish (wicketkeeper), Ash Simes, Kevin Warid, Damien Vidler, Blake Davis, Zayd Thomas, Henry Harris, Stuart Rose, Sam Gillett, Chris Jones, Brendan Mitchell, Tom Parsons.

Northern Rivers Cricket League also had to cancel all grade semi-finals scheduled for this afternoon due to the wet weather, with the top two clubs in the regular season going in to the finals scheduled for next Saturday.

First Grade sees Minor Premiers Marist Brothers to play Goonellabah Workers Sports in the final; Second Grade sees Minor Premiers Evans Head meet Marist Brothers; the Third Grade final will be between Minor Premiers Southern Districts and Kyogle Turkeys with the Fourth Grade between Minor Premiers Goonellabah Workers Sports, who are unbeaten, against Lismore Workers.
