Lismore Women Storm into Sunshine Conference Grand Final

The Sunshine Conference preliminary Women's Basketball final was fought out between the Lismore Storm and Bellinger Valley Brave at Albert Park Stadium this weekend with the Storm edging out their rivals 61-55 in what was a tight, fast game.

Coach for the Bellinger Brave Paul Schellenberger said they always have tight games against Lismore.

"It was a good to hard game, a good battle," he said.

"We had our chances but when they shot, they scored and we didn't."

He added the team can take their benefits out from the defeat but at the end of the day credit is due to both teams who played really well.

Makayla Greensill was the Storm's top point scorer with 17 for Lismore and Sophie Medway was the top point scorer for Bellinger with 16.

Captain for the Lismore Storm, Kiara Richardson said the heat made the game tougher than usual.

"The game was a lot rougher than it usually is but the girls really stepped up," Ms Richardson said.

"Madison Pethers had a blinder of a game.

"Taya Cottee and Lena Cohen and the whole team played really well, we're all really proud of everyone."

Lismore Storm women will take on Ballina Breakers in the Grand Final in two weeks time on the 12th of December in Coffs Harbour.

“For the Grand Final we'll definitely have to keep our fitness up," Ms Richardson said.

"I think having a bit more control, not to panic, running through our plays and having a good team game is what we'll be focusing on."
