Harry Hampson had a fine debut for Goonellabah FC and is expected to be a thorn in Maclean's side as the Hornets head south for the first match in the second round of the ANZAC Day Cup.
Goonellabah were in a five goal thriller against Alstonville last Sunday with debutant Josh Yates scoring the winner with just 20 seconds to go.
"Harry was great along with the rest of the boys, they all showed true form to come back from being 2-1 down with 20 minutes to go," said Hornets' coach Michael Primiano.
"Harry played his heart out against his former club and we could see he was running out of legs towards the end and I put Josh yates on the second time of the match, only this time on the wing, and it turns out he goes and scores the winner."
Maclean lost 2-1 to South Lismore last Friday and will be keen to open their account in the win section.
Priminao said despite the win over Alstonville in a rematch of last year's final that "we still have a bit to work on as the team is still gelling".
Goalkeeper Kye Smith and defender Nick Elliott also debuted for Hornets against Alstonville.
Goonellabah FC squad: Kye Smith, Nelson Cheli, Nick Elliott, Chris Clarke, Sam Cheli, Andy McCalman, Aaron Kelly, Kurt Stephens, Brady Toniello, Tom Pitman, Harry Hampson, Wayne Gordon, Lloyd Howard, Josh Yates, Daniel Crewe, Josh Moore Evans
