The Weekend Wrap

The final weekend in July is looking good weatherwise. Saturday should be sunny with a maximum of 17 degrees while Sunday is forecast to be mostly sunny and 19 degrees.


There may be a touch of rain early next week with 0-1mm predicted on Monday, however, the exciting part of next week's weather is the temperatures slowly rising to 21-25 degrees. We will get a preview of spring, especially on Thursday.

Before we get on to this week's market activities, Trinity Catholic College is holding its Open Day at Southern Cross University between 11am and 2pm this Sunday. If you were wondering about life at Trinity post-flood at SCU, this is a good time to go along and discover what students are experiencing.


There are also a couple of businesses reopening tomorrow (Saturday).



Supercheap Auto is reopening from 8:30am. They have a free coffee van until 12:30pm and a free sausage sizzle, games & prices between 9am to 2pm. The store will be open until 5:30pm.


Adornments Lismore is reopening tomorrow between 9.30am and 1pm at 99 Keen Street, Lismore. You can peruse their vintage and vintage-inspired clothing, jewellery and homewares.


The Wilson River Landcare Group are holding a Wilsons River Tree Planting Day at Pitt Lane, North Lismore from 11am. This is a COVID-safe event so if you are sick stay at home.



The Lismore Farmers Markets swing open the gates at 8am when the mercury will just begin to climb at the Lismore Showgrounds. Fresh farm-grown fruit & veg, hot coffee and breakfast as well as live music from Malcolm Gladstone.


The Blue Knob Community Markets will be in action between 8:30am and 12 midday.


As this is the fifth weekend in July, the Nimbin Markets are back in action again in Cullen Street. They have lots of unique handmade and local stalls and delicious food for you to enjoy on Sunday between 9am and 3pm.



In sport, the Rams and Northern United both had strong wins last weekend. The task this weekend is going to be another challenging round on Sunday with Northern United at home to Byron Bay and the Rams away to Ballina who are looking to consolidate a Top 4 position.


Football Far North Coast had the weekend off last week and get back into the action tonight when South Lismore travels to Maclean and Richmond Rovers make the short trip to Alstonville in a 3 v 2 battle.


Saturday's games see Lismore Thistles at Byron Bay while Goonellabah is on the road to Bangalow.


The Lismore Rugby Club has a big Saturday planned with the Old Boys catchup, Ladies Day and the first-grade team taking on Ballina ar rugby park, then the party continues with a full bar, sizzling barbecue and the Billy Gudgeon band.


If you are hitting the road and in need of petrol, here are the cheapest picks from Fuel NSW:

  • E10 is 206.9 at the Caltex in Goonellabah, the only spot locally for E10. Ballina is selling it for 199.9 while Casino is 197.7.
  • Casino is 199.7 for Unleaded 91 while in Lismore it is 206.9 everywhere.
  • U95 is cheapest at the Liberty servo's for 214.9 on Ballina Road, Wyrallah Road and Ternaia Street.
  • U98 is 222.9 at Ballina Road and Kyogle Street at the Liberty's once again.
  • Diesel is showing 235.9 as the cheapest locally but the West Ballina BP has it for 211.9
