The Weekend Wrap

The NSW COVID-19 Health restrictions have caused two cancellations and one postponement this week.

When Sydney went into lockdown the NSW State Government introduced restrictions across all of the state to curb the rapid increase of the contagious Delta variant.

While not as strict as March 2020, the restrictions have meant the cancellation of the Lismore Car Boot Markets on Sunday and the Lismore "Get Its Glow On" Festival at the Lismore Showground that was scheduled for tomorrow.

The postponement is for the Northern Rivers Youth Orchestra 2021. They were appearing from July 6-8 at the Lismore City Hall, this has been postponed until September.

The rainfall is forecast to continue into the weekend after a wet start to the school holidays.

13.8mm has fallen to 9am this morning with another 15-25mm predicted for tomorrow and 3-10mm on Sunday. The silver lining is from Monday we are looking at some sunny skies with very little rain forecast for the week.

One event still on this weekend is the Lismore Farmers Markets. Classified as an essential service because it sells fruit and vegetables and because of the space can easily comply with the 4 square metre rule. A warning that masks are mandatory if you are shopping at the Lismore Farmers Markets.

There will be some Christmas in July goods plus hot coffee and breakfast.

The Blue Knob Community Markets will go ahead as well between 8:30am and 12 noon with the Talk of the Month provided by Jo about 'Amazing Mammals'.

In sport, it is a big weekend in the NRRRL for the Indigenous Round. Northern United is playing Kyogle on Saturday evening at Crozier Field at 5:30pm while the Rams are also at home to Mullumbimby on Sunday afternoon with an early 1:45pm kick-off. The Rams will be wearing a specially designed kit for the Indigenous round. Both teams looking to get back to winning ways after defeat last weekend.

Football Far North Coast gets underway tonight when Lismore Thistles take on Goonellabah at Thistles Park, South Lismore with an 8pm start. The out of form but still equal top South Lismore Celtics travel to Maclean on Saturday for their fixture while Sunday sees Alstonville at home to Byron Bay and Richmond Rovers (equal top) are away to Lennox Head.

It is a bye round for Lismore Rugby Club first and reserve grade this week.

Don't forget to wear your masks when attending all sporting games.

Here is the weekly list of cheap petrol around town, there has been a price rise from last week:

  • E10 is sitting 142.9 so unless you are using E10 for personal reasons I would opt for U91.
  • U91is cheaper than E10 for the first time at 141.9, available at the BP's on Dawson Street. One is on the Conway Street roundabout and the other at Trinity.
  • U95 is best at the Liberty stations on Ballina Road and Wyarallah Road, East Lismore for 153.9.
  • For U98 go and see the Liberty stations again. This time at Ballina Road and Ternia/Bridge Street roundabout, North Lismore.
  • Diesel is the fuel that has not risen in the last week. The cheapest is the BP near Trinity for 135.9.

Neil Marks talk about the COVID restrictions and wearing a mask or not in his Blog this week, you can read it when you wake up tomorrow morning.

Have a great weekend.
