Lismore’s leading business association, Business Lismore (aka Lismore Chamber of Commerce and Industry) has today announced the sudden and unexpected resignation of their president, Ms Ellen Kronen.

Ms Kronen joined the Chamber in 2012 and has been on the Board every year but one since 2013. She had previously held the position of President (2015) and was again elected President in mid-2021. In addition to Executive responsibilities, Ms Kronen had taken on many of the Chamber’s administrative activities as a volunteer.

Ms Kronen said it has been a bittersweet term.

“We had two years of COVID, then of course February/March floods; it has been a particularly challenging time for everyone.

“There are many reasons for choosing to finish my term now, but key among them is to finish my new home, and more importantly make my business a priority. I have loved my service with the Chamber and wish it every success. I certainly won’t stop advocating for the business community or being involved in whatever way I can.”

Ellen said that there had been many highlights, especially winning Best Regional Chamber in 2016, again in 2022 then going on to win Outstanding Local Chamber at the Business NSW State Awards.

“And closer to home, walking in the Lantern Parade with the newly commissioned replica of the old Post Office on Molesworth Street was another highlight. The response from the community was fantastic,” she added.

Chamber vice-president, Shaun Haysom, said that the Board was deeply grateful to Ellen for her many years of active service and contributions to the organisation.

“Over her past decade of service to Business Lismore, Ellen had tirelessly dedicated herself to the betterment of the local business community and provided invaluable resources for the smooth operation of the Board’s administration,” he said.

“She has actively lobbied all levels of government regarding the needs of our members and we extend our deepest thanks for her exceptional service and contributions.”

Mr Haysom added that the Board remains steadfast in its commitment to service their members, fostering collaboration and advocating for business owners.

“The Board and staff will continue to work diligently to ensure a smooth transition with a new Acting President, which will be decided at a special Board meeting in the very near future,” he concluded.

Business Lismore is Lismore’s leading business association. It is a member-funded organisation dedicated to assisting and supporting businesses in the region, advocating for the business community’s interests at all levels of government and to create opportunities for members to share knowledge, expertise and resources and to develop productive business relationships.
