It is quite apt that Michael and Katie Kuhnemann have the official opening of the newly refurbished F-Fitness Gonnellabah gym tomorrow (Saturday). Michael's first gym purchase was the old squash courts in East Lismore which he duly converted into a high-quality gym.

Like most of East Lismore, Michael's gym went underwater 12 months ago so his first step was to clean out and rebuild F-Fitness East Lismore.

His second was to purchase the Summit Gym building late last year and transform the place into the Northern Rivers's largest gym at about 2000 square metres. Every nook and cranny of the building has been utilised.

Michael and Katie's journey has not been easy but it is coming to a peak when Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin officially opens F-Fitness Goonellabah on Saturday morning.

"The grand opening is finally here," Michael told the Lismore App, "We're opening this Saturday 7am to 3pm. We are very, very tired but it's been a great journey so we're nearly there. We're very excited."

"All the equipment's basically in now we're just doing the wet rooms and just finishing off the creche. Unfortunately, we have had a few delays in materials turning up as everyone has like toilets, vanities and windows but they're all arriving now so the worst scenario is we go 24/7 at the end of this month but hopefully sooner."

"All the equipment is in place. A large ladies-only gym, your boxing area, your functional training areas, large dedicated weight areas, yeah, it's all already go."

Saturday is the day to take the time and walk through F-Fitness Goonellabah to check out the size and scale of this gym. Make sure to take your exercise gear because everyone can train for FREE on Saturday between 7am and 3pm.

As well, there will be a sausage sizzle from 7:30 to 10:30, free coffee and random prizes including merchandise, free memberships, free personal trainer sessions, free passe to the Osteopath and more.

Importantly, it is the final day to get the foundation membership price of $14.95 per week as it will rise to $19.95 from Sunday.

Michael's nephew is new Australian cricket spin sensation Matthew Kuhnemann.

Matthew was travelling down from Brisbane for the grand opening after playing in the BBL final in Perth but was then called into the Australian Test Cricket squad in India after the first test. So, that has been put on the back burner until the tour finishes. However, Michael has promised some good gear will be on its way to F-Fitness in the future.

F-Fitness' Grand Opening is tomorrow (Saturday) at 791 Ballina Road, Goonellabah (just down from the roundabout where the East Point Shopping Village is) between 7am and 3pm.
