In the lead up to Christmas last year, customers at Southside Pharmacy Lismore were happily handing over $3 for a pharmacy calendar – all in the name of raising money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
Calendar sales reached a total of $2,520 and Southside's pharmacist Michael Hermann said his staff didn’t have a hard time convincing the customers to buy one.
“It’s a win, win and easy to do,” Michael said. “Customers were only too happy to pay $3 for a calendar.
“I get the advertising, customers get a yearly calendar they can write notes in about when their medications are due - and the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter Service gets the money.”
Since 1989 the team at Southside Pharmacy Lismore have been giving a helping hand to raise support for the Rescue Helicopter Service and have fundraised over $43,000 for the service to help save lives.
“It feels good to raise money for the helicopter,” Michael said.
“Everyone has been touched in some way by the helicopter, or knows someone who has been helped by it.
“It is a valuable service for our community.
“It would be too expensive to get back if we lost it.”
There’s only a few calendars left, so if you want one, hurry in to the Southside Pharmacy on Union Street, South Lismore, to grab it.
