The CBD still has plenty of boarding covering doorways and windows when you walk a lap of the famous block.

However, each week the Lismore App reports another 6 to 12 new businesses that have reopened their doors (What's Open) and if you look closely there are many more that are not far away from putting up the "We're Open" sign.

Lismore City Council (LCC) are having to carefully manage the parking situation now that more businesses have the doors open and attracting people in the CBD once again and the fact that Tradies are still in action rebuilding many others.

In response, LCC will begin monthly audits of usage of CBD Work Zones.

Council introduced Work Zones in May for tradespeople working in the CBD to help local businesses rebuild after the 28 February natural disaster.

The Work Zones have helped our local businesses to repair their premises and re-open their doors faster by allowing tradespeople easy access to buildings and their vehicles.

However, council admits it needs to remain flexible about the needs of businesses, tradespeople and returning shoppers to our CBD as the recovery continues.

With many businesses now returning, council will be undertaking audits of zone usage and business occupancy at the end of each month to identify whether a percentage of the work zones can be reduced, in response to business occupancy and commuter demand for parking.

In the area known as the CBD super block, tradespeople can currently apply for a Trade Parking Permit to park in a dedicated Work Zone.

The streets that define the super block are Woodlark Street (North), Keen Street (East), Conway Street (South) and Molesworth Street (West).
