Lismore City Council is drafting the Sport and Recreation Plan 2025–2030, and they are looking for the community's input to create opportunities that benefit our entire community.
About 3 million children aged 0-14 participate in organised sport outside of school hours each year in Australia.
In 2019, almost 8 out of 10 (77%) NSW children took part in one or more organised sport or physical activities over the 12 months, which included 77% of boys and 78% of girls.
The last Sport and Recreational Plan ended in 2021. The floods of 2022 put paid to updating the plan until now.
What is the Sport and Recreation Plan?
It’s a roadmap to improve facilities, programs and services, ensuring sport and recreation in Lismore is accessible, inclusive and thriving for years to come.
Council would like to hear from Sporting Clubs throughout the month of January about how they can better support your club and the community.
Complete the Sporting Club Survey through Council's Your Say website by clicking https://yoursay.lismore.nsw.gov.au/sport-and-recreation.
Once Council has prepared a draft plan, it will be shared with the community for further feedback.
