The worst of the low-pressure system has passed as it gathered speed this morning and moved south.

This means the severe weather warning from the Bureau of Meteorology has been cancelled.

The result leaves Lismore with a potential moderate flood level of 7.8 metres at 8pm tonight (Monday) after exceeding the 7.20 moderate mark around 2pm.

Flood Safety Advice:

In life threatening emergencies, call 000 (triple zero) immediately. If you require rescue, assistance to evacuate or other emergency help, ring NSW SES on 132 500.

• * Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
• * Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
• * Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
• * Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.

The rest of the week's weather forecast is looking a lot more optimistic with mostly sunny days ahead from Wednesday with warm maximum temperatures nearing 30 degrees.

We do, however, still have the chance of thunderstorms later today and Tuesday but the rain expected is 1-5mm at this stage.
