A female bushwalker slipped down a cliff face at Busbys Flats, near Casino on Good Friday and was rescued by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.



At approx. 3pm Friday 29th March 2024, Emergency Services were called to the Busbys Flat area after reports of a person falling down a cliff. Upon arrival, rescue crews from Police Rescue accompanied by General Duties Police, VRA Rescue NSW and NSW Ambulance Paramedics found a female patient who had fallen down a cliff face after slipping during a walk.


After carefully assessing the situation, on-scene services determined that a helicopter extrication was required and immediately contacted the Westpac Rescue helicopter from Lismore to respond to the scene.



The rescue operation was extensive and involved combined crews from NSW Ambulance, VRA Rescue NSW, and Police Rescue.

The helicopter’s critical care medical team were winched into the scene, treated and stabilised the woman, before winching her into the aircraft and then airlifting her to Lismore Base Hospital for further medical attention.


The patient suffered limb injuries.
