Forget winter swimming in the outdoor pool, because the Lismore Memorial baths on Molesworth Street are going to stay closed for the winter season.

The decision to keep the baths closed was made by Lismore City Council after it conducted a recent public poll to see how the community felt about it.

Council released a statement this week thanking the 1100 who took part and voted in the poll.

Out of the people who voted, 65% said they did not support opening the facility early.

“Taking this into consideration, and the cost of opening the pool for a small number of people, the Memorial Baths will remain closed and will reopen in September as usual,” Council’s statement said.
