The recent wet weather has wreaked havoc on local sport across the weekend.
After a run of dry conditions over the past few months, summer sport has had a good run, but it has ended for many matches this weekend.
FNC junior softball has been cancelled on Saturday morning, with further decisions to be made regarding senior softball throughout the morning.
The junior matches were scheduled between 9:00am and 11:15am, with seniors set to start at 11:30am, weather permitting.
The LJ Hooker League match between Marist Brothers and Alstonville at Hill Park Oval has been cancelled, as have a number of second grade matches in the Hooker League and second and third grade fixtures in the LDCA competition across the region.
The Goonellabah Workers Sports are to host the Lennox Head Pirates at Oakes Oval from 1:00pm, with a decision still to be made public on whether this match will go ahead.
At the time of publishing, ground staff are at Oakes Oval, have removed the covers and are working on the pitch and ground preparation.
Although disappointing for a long list of sporting fixtures, many in the region have been happy to see the much-needed rain after lower than normal totals across the summer months.
