Wayne Jones thanks Lismore after coronavirus cases remain at 5

Wayne Jones, the Chief Executive of the Northern NSW Local Health District has thanked the people of Lismore and the North Coast for their vigilance over the past two weeks in observing the stricter stay at home regulations along with the continued social distancing.

Mr Jones said, "I want to thank our community for their support and engagement with the public health orders restricting movement over the past few weeks.

It’s pleasing to see the numbers of new cases in our region slowing, and I want to acknowledge the efforts that have been made by our local residents in helping bring this about.

I encourage everyone to continue with hand washing and physical distancing which have been working so well to date.

As the hospital level, we’re continuing to prepare for any increase in positive cases that may occur over the coming months, and our staff are doing a great job in adapting to new directives and in some cases, new roles, as our response evolves".

The number of Lismore cases remains at 5 while the local health district had one more confirmed case taking the total to 54, 51 of these were contracted whilst overseas. Two cases are in hospital with one of these in ICU.
