The Northern Rivers peace group, Remembering and Healing and Peace in Our Lifetime, are seeking peace lovers across the Northern Rivers to join them this Sunday, 23rd June at 11am to create a human peace sign at Nesbitt Park, corner of Casino & Wilson Streets, South Lismore.

This creative event, originating in Lismore, is being livestreamed across the world as part of the 24-hour global Peacewave, and the resultant film will be distributed by Peace in Our Lifetime worldwide to encourage other communities to create and film their own human peace signs in time for International Peace Day.

“The peace sign is a symbol of hope and freedom, and creating it so publicly is a small action people can take that, that when multiplied across the world, can have a profound effect”, says Sandra Handley, Peace In Our Lifetime’s Coordinator.

“Our project aims to blanket the world in peace signs and we’re excited to try as many different ways as we can to achieve that, with our Human Peace Sign being the latest.

The peace sign is being created with help from local movement facilitators Tess Eckert and Miriam Torzillo from Flow Collective and art therapist, Liz Dowling, and will be filmed by local filmmakers.

Attendees are invited to wear white and bring a coloured scarf if they can but everyone is welcome regardless.

For further information, contact Sandra Handley or Liz Dowling at [email protected].
