As part of Veterans Health Week, the City of Lismore RSL sub-Branch is holding a Barefoot Bowls Day at the Lismore City Bowling Club this Sunday October 6 between 11am and 4pm.
Wilson McClelland, Secretary of the City of Lismore sub-Branch said this is a day for veterans and their families to come together for camaraderie and a bit of fun.
"This is an incentive from the Department of Veteran Affairs. Basically, we're hoping to have a bit of fun and games, whether that's through barefoot bowls or darts and enjoy the benefits of sport.
"We'll hopefully have a medical practitioner to talk about health for veterans on the physical side of things, such as a healthy diet and exercise.
The membership of the City of Lismore sub-Branch is about 115, but Wilson said any veteran and their family is welcome to attend. You don't have to be a sub-Branch member.
As an extra incentive, a free lunch will be provided.
"This is the first event of its kind that we have run. I hope people come down to the Bowling Club so we can enjoy each other's company."
