Richmond River High Campus and Trinity Catholic College are two learning institutions that have created incredible temporary facilities, given the devastation that their schools suffered on February 28, 2022.
Both schools are unlikely to return to their previous sites without the official sign-off.
Richmond River High Campus (RRHC) is looking to the long term. They want to create a vision for their school for the next 30 years and want the broader Lismore community, not just those with students currently enrolled, to participate in a survey.
The only issue is, the survey ends tonight, so time is of the essence.
Our community has been vocal about not having a voice that is heard by the NRRC and the NSW Government when it comes to rebuilding our city. Now is the time for your voice to be heard when it comes to rebuilding an institution that has been educating our residents for the last 65 years.
Megan Bennett and I'm the President of the Richmond River Campus (RRHC) P&C told the Lismore App, "The P&C is encouraging the broader community to get involved and share their views through the survey."
"This is an opportunity to shape the future of public education in Lismore. Community members with a passion for education, please share your views. If you have small children, what education experience do you want for them? Now is your chance to voice your opinion."
Around 100 people have participated in face-to-face workshops organised by Schools Infrastructure - the Department of Education group responsible for the planning, design and delivery of new schools.
In late Term 3, there were workshops for current students and staff of both the RRHC and those of The Rivers Secondary College (Lismore High and Kadina).
There were workshops for the RRHC P&C as well as for P&C members for all three campuses.
The survey is seeking to understand the communities vision for secondary education in Lismore for the next 30 years.
The survey must be completed tonight, 4 August on this web page https://www.schoolinfrastructure.nsw.gov.au/projects/r/richmond_river_high_campus.html#community-info-tab.
You can still email your thoughts after August 4 via email FloodRecovery_RRHC@det.nsw.edu.au.
