UPDATED: Oil spill disrupts traffic on Bruxner Highway

The Bruxner Highway northbound has been closed and a detour is in place at South Lismore.


A truck is reported to have spilled the oil before 9.13am this morning.



Traffic is being diverted via Three Chain Rd, East St, Wilson St and Elliott Rd before returning to the highway, the Live Traffic NSW website says.


Emergency services and Lismore City Council are on the scene.


Motorists are advised to allow extra time and exercise caution.


UPDATE AT 2PM JULY 18, 2019


The northbound lanes of the Bruxner Highway have been reopened however the left turn to Elliott Road remains closed.


Motorists are still advised to exercise caution and allow extra travel time.
