About 7.20am yesterday (Monday, 19 January 2026), police were called to Lennox Head Beach following reports that an unexploded ordnance (UXO) had washed up on the shore.



Police attached to Richmond Police District Rescue Squad secured the area after finding a marine location marker.



Personnel from the ADF attended the scene and detonated the object via a controlled explosion.


If a member of the public should find a suspicious item that may be unexploded ordnance (UXO), leave the item where it is found and contact local police immediately.
