A two-year-old girl has died after being pulled from a backyard pool, at Whian Whian, 25km north of Lismore, yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a property at Whian Whian about 2.20pm (Wednesday 27 December 2023), and found family members had initiated CPR.

Police arrived on scene and rendered assistance until NSW Ambulance paramedics took over.

The child was taken to Lismore Base Hospital but was unable to be revived.

Officers attached to Richmond Police Area Command will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.

MISSING SWIMMER AT LENNOX HEAD

Police have suspended a multi-agency search in waters off Lennox Head.

A member of the public contacted police on Sunday afternoon (24 December 2023) after believing they saw a swimmer in difficulty.

An extensive search has been conducted by police and other agencies; however, no person has been located.

Police have not received reports of a missing person.
