Police report the incident ended at 10pm with both lanes of the Burxner Highway open.

ORIGINAL STORY

A two-car accident has closed the Bruxner Highway at Alstonville between Ballina Road and Kays Lane.

The incident occurred around 6pm.

Live Traffic is reporting heavy traffic conditions with diversions in place:

Westbound: Ballina Rd, Main St, Budgen Ave, Lismore Rd, Kays Ln, and back to the highway.

Eastbound: Kays Ln, Lismore Rd, Budgen Ave, Main St, Ballina Rd, and back to the highway.

The diversions are suitable for all vehicles.

Emergency services are in attendance. The highway is expected to remain closed for some time as two people are trapped.
