Tugun tunnel closed for border checkpoint work

If you are on the road and heading north later today, motorists should be aware of changed traffic conditions on the Pacific Motorway at the Tugun tunnel.

From 8pm tonight, northbound lanes will be closed while transport for NSW sets up additional amenities for the Queensland border check point.

The lanes will be closed until 5am tomorrow, Wednesday, December 30, weather permitting, with traffic diverted onto the Gold Coast Highway.

Southbound lanes will be closed from 11pm Tuesday 29 December to 1am Wednesday 30 December, weather permitting, with traffic diverted onto Stewart Road and the Gold Coast Highway.

Traffic control and a reduced speed limit will be in place for the safety of workers and road users.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Delays are expected.

Transport for NSW thanks road users for their patience during this time.
