It was a tough day out for Lismore cricketers, with Marist Brothers and Goonellabah Workers Sports both going down on Saturday.
At Mortimer Oval, Marist Brothers were in a tight tussle with Casino but eventually went down by 2 wickets.
Brothers won the toss and elected to bat after a slight delay to the start of the match due to rain.
The Marist Brothers top order struggled to find runs, with several batsmen getting starts, but were unable to go on with it.
Matt Cleaver (10) and Pat Martin (14) saw off the opening overs, but when Cooper Williams fell cheaply, Brothers were in trouble at 3/30.
Joe Parsons (12) and Andrew Munroe (25) steadied the ship before Luke Hamshaw added 19 and Thomas Lindsay swung the bat to top score with 50 to take the total to 9/167 off a rain-reduced 36 overs.
Jeremy Perkins struck a double blow early, taking both openers, to have Casino 2/26.
Damien Vidler (66) and Dylan Olive (34) then put the Cavaliers in a strong position after Dylan Olive retired hurt in the 12th over before returning late in the innings.
Youngster Blake Collings was able to take the vital wicket of Vidler, eventually finishing as the best of the bowlers with 3/31, but it wasn't enough for Brothers.
Casino managed to pass the total in the final over, 8 wickets down.
The loss drops Marist Brothers to fifth on the LJ Hooker League ladder.
At Oakes Oval, Goonellabah Workers Sports won the toss and elected to bat.
Unfortunately for Goonellabah, the Tweed Banora openers settled into a rhythm early and scored freely.
Kale Hare managed to break the opening partnership with the score at 62, but Tweed continued the strong start, with the second wicket falling at 105.
The GWS bowlers then began to break partnerships early, eventually bowling Tweed Banora out for 184 in the final over.
Kevin Warid impressed with his normally part-time bowling, taking 4/40; Hare finished with 3/36, and Reece Gregor finished off the innings with 2/16.
In reply, the Goonellabah top order struggled to produce partnerships, and were in trouble at 6/36.
Nathan Bezrouchko (25) and Kevin Warid, with 41 not out, managed to stem the flow of wickets, but it was all to late, with Goonellabah all out for 129 in the 35th over.
Kade Wood was impressive for Tweed Banora with 5/18 off 8 overs.
The loss moves the Colts past Goonellabah on percentage at the top of the table.
There will be plenty of interest in next week's local derby when Marist Brothers and Goonellabah clash at Mortimer Oval.
