Total Fire Ban has been declared for tomorrow

The NSW Rural Fire Service has declared a Total Fire Ban for tomorrow Sunday November 29 for the Far North Coast which includes Lismore, Byron Bay, Ballina, Kyogle, Richmond Valley, Clarence Valley and Tweed due to the forecast hot and windy conditions.



The Total Fire Ban is rated as severe, under these conditions:

  • Well prepared homes that are actively defended can safety during a fire
  • Follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan and remain vigilant
  • Keep informed by staying in touch with local media and the RFS website www.rfs.nsw.gov.au


From midnight tonight, no fires may be lit in the open and all fire permits are suspended during a Total Fire Ban.


Gas and electric barbecues may be used provided certain conditions are met.
