Thunderstorm causes power outages north and east of Lismore

UPDATE 5:30PM

Power has been restored to the majority of households in Lismore, leaving 19 without power.

There are still 353 households without power at Tintenbar and Fernleigh.

ORIGINAL STORY

The severe thunderstorm was short and sharp this afternoon, and the Bureau of Meteorology has now removed the warning.

Unfortunately, the storm has caused power outages to 1,100 homes in parts of Lismore Heights, Richmond Hill, Bexhill, Woodlawn, Boatharbour, and Eltham, as well as 353 Essential Energy customers in Tintenbar and Fernleigh.

It is not known what has caused the power outages; they are being investigated by Essential Energy crews.

More to come.
