Three Lismore City Councillors are looking to stop the newly approved boutique brewery in Engine Street, South Lismore.
Councillors Nancy Casson, Adam Guise and Eddie Lloyd have put in a notice of rescission motion against Tuesday night's deferred approval of the development application (DA) lodged by Two Mates Brewing. The approval is deferred due to certain conditions that must be met before the business can open.

The notice of rescission does not offer any new reasons as to why the boutique brewery should not open its doors, it simply says 'Council to rescind its decision'.
A call to all three councillors on Friday to try and gain further insight was unsuccessful. The Lismore App is still waiting for a return call.
Co-owner of Two Mates Brewing Grant Smith said it is frustrating but if this is the due process that needs to be followed then so be it.
"Two Mates Brewing spent a significant amount of time looking for the right location to locate their Craft Brewery."
"A thorough review of the Lismore Economic Development Strategy gave Two Mates Brewing the confidence to work with council staff to locate appropriate sites. The multiple references to innovation and reduction of red tape to activate business growth were important considerations in our selection of Lismore as a place to commence our business."
"Our vision is to deliver on the activation that Lismore City Council has committed to in this strategy, to create jobs for Lismore residents and to sew another layer into the rich tapestry that makes Lismore unique."
"We are asking the Councillors of Lismore to pull together as one team and to provide confidence to investors such as us, that the Economic Development Strategy is a genuine plan for taking Lismore forward."
"We look forward to delivering for this great community."

The notice of rescission will be held at an extraordinary council meeting tonight at 6pm at the council chambers in Goonellabah.
As usual the Lismore App will let you know the outcome.
