Lismore Thistles coach Darren Beardow wants his young side to take it to neighbours Richmond Rovers from the start in the Elimination Semi-Final on Bill Harris Field, East Lismore, tomorrow afternoon.
"The boys are young, fit and skilful. The guys in midfield (Oscar Stahl, Nick Albertini and Kalbe Gooley) were on fire in the second half at Bangalow and they need to be starting at 100 miles an hour," Beardow said.
The penalty win at Bangalow last Sunday has given the players a lift.
"We used our get out of jail card at Bangalow as we started off slack and they missed some sitters. Bobby Bugden and Jono See, who have both scored against us this season, will not miss such chances, so we have to be switched on from the first whistle," Beardow said.
Rovers have beaten Thistles twice with one match drawn and Beardow said they all delivered lessons.
"The last loss (3-2) was very tight and in one, they got on top of us, which we know we can't allow again. Otherwise, they have been pretty even games," Beardow said.
"They are a very experienced side and we have to cope with them physically, have the same intensity."
Lismore Thistles team to face Richmond Rovers: Joey McCalman; Logan Fraser, Grant Sinclair, Nick Rhodes, Jeremy Sullivan; Nick Albertini, Oscar Stahl, Kaleb Gooley, Matt Parrish, Nick Cummins, Jye Wilson
