Southern Cross University Gold Rats, after the euphoria of scoring 50 points on their 50th anniversary game, travel to Alstonville to face the unbeaten Far North Coast Rugby Union leaders this afternoon.

"The boys have won four games this season, been competitive in every match and we have nothing to lose," said Gold Rats Acting Coach Steve Spinks.

"There is a lot more on them than there is us. Wollongbar Alstonville are trying to go through the season undefeated and think they will beat us in their sleep."

The 50th anniversary match against Lismore left the forwards battered , bruised, and broken. The players out this afternoon and some for the season are Dean Buchanan, Pete Murphy, Ben Prozinski and Brad Sneath.

"We might have a bare minimum fifteen players for this afternoon. Whoever plays will know what they have to do," said Spinks.

"Our backline has been fairly settled since Round 4 or 5 and you can see the benefit in their defence and in the attack there is a lot more potential.

"Matt McMullen obviously has been outstanding but all of them work together a lot better.

"WAR have out and out pace all over the park so we will have to be working well as a unit."
