Make sure the umbrella is in the car when you leave for work or to drop the kids off to school because we are in store for more rain than in the previous five days.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) have said the worst of the current weather system over northern NSW will occur today and tomorrow.
Rainfall expectation is 30 to 60mm today and a further 25 to 60mm on Friday.
Yes, it is a wide range and the BOM are hedging their bets due to the behaviour of this weather system. "The rainfall will be localised," Stephen said, " With some areas receiving more than others but coastal towns are more at risk."
Stephen Stefanac from the BOM said the cause is due to a broad trough of low pressure that lies off the New South Wales coast while a high pressure system sits over the southern Tasman Sea.
While the rain is welcomed by many the disappointing fact is that this weather system will hang around into early next week so it will be a wet weekend albeit with less rain (4 to 15mm).
February has delivered relatively little rain so far with only 80.8mm falling compared to last years February total of 402mm. The largest single day of rainfall in 2020 in February was 112.8mm, hopefull we will receive no more than the sixty predicted.
