The Weekend Wrap

The weather forecast has changed, but only slightly, as more clouds roll in from the west before a southerly change on Sunday afternoon will bring a few showers.

Partly cloudy and a top of 19 degrees is the forecast for the 2024 Lismore Lantern Parade tomorrow (Saturday), while Sunday's forecast is for a shower or two with a cool 17 degrees as the maximum temperature.

It may not be the totally clear skies that Jyllie Jackson and her team were wishing for the 2024 Lismore Lantern Parade, but it is certainly not going to worry them overly as preparations continue.

Lantern Parade 2024 kicks off at 12 midday tomorrow. Here's what's on:

  • Market deLight: 12 midday to 9pm. A fabulous array of regional food, arts & crafts and pop-up shops from local CDB businesses.
  • The Freedom of Entry Parade between 1:30pm and 2:30pm
  • Kids Fest: 12pm - 4.30pm
  • Memories: The Lismore Pop-up Museum, Molesworth Street celebrating 30years of the Lismore Lantern Parade.
  • The Heartbeats Festival Stage between 12pm and 9.00pm: Carrington Street, near Dragonfly Cafe.
  • The Pitts Family Circus & Community Stage: 1.30pm - 5.00pm
  • The Lismore Lantern Parade: 5.30pm - 6.30pm
  • The Fiery Finale: 6.30pm - 7.30pm Yesterday Today Tomorrow

On Sunday, the Nimbin Markets are on between 9am and 3pm on Cullen Street with multicultural food, unique artisan wares, recycled inventions, spiritual concepts and more.

For some live music, the Northern Rivers Hotel has Dan Hannaford tonight (Friday) until 9pm.

In the NRRRL, the Marist Brothers Rams upset the previously undefeated Byron Bay last week and are looking to make it five wins on the trot when they take on Evans Head at Crozier Field tomorrow afternoon at 3:30pm.

Northern United have a trip to Tweed on Sunday to get back to winning ways after last week's loss to Mullumbimby at home.

There are three games to kick off Round 10 in Football Far North Coast Mens Premier League tomorrow afternoon. Richmond Rovers take on Alstonville at Neilson Park, East Lismore, Lennox Head is at home to Ballina, and top-of-the-table South Lismore is at home to Maclean. Each game begins at 3pm.

Then on Sunday, it's Byron Bay v Goonellabah at Byron, while Bangalow is at home to Mullumbimby Brunswick, both games kick of at 2:30pm.

In the Women's Premier League, there are two games tonight, Ballina v Alstonville and Lennox Head v Byron Bay starting at 8pm.

On Sunday, Richmond Rovers travel to Bangalow for a 2:30pm start.
