The Spotted Pig, a long-time local favourite, has re-opened on Woodlark Street, offering both gourmet take-away food and boutique deli produce.

They stock local producers and food artisans, as well as their own house-made delicacies, it’s the place to visit for something a little bit fancy to feast on.

Originally operating as a cafe from the old church at Alphadale on the Bruxner Highway, The Spotted Pig moved into the heart of Lismore in Eggins Lane in 2020, morphing into a wine bar with gourmet tapas options. It operated from Eggins Lane until the Feb 2022 flood, which devastated the premises.

After the flood, Iohne Simpson, owner, had a break and bided her time, but she believes the moment is now right to jump back into business.

“Lismore is back and happening now and I want to be a part of it. I haven’t been able to wait to be back. The support that we have received already is just overwhelming.”

Iohne & her wife Emily previously ran the business together, but Emily has moved on to other ventures and the new iteration of The Spotted Pig is Iohne’s baby.

Besides the daily takeaway options, she makes chutneys, pickles, relishes, pates & crackers in-house herself that can be purchased from the deli shelves. The Spotted Pig will also be available for catering in the future, with flexible menus and options.

Opening hours are from 10am to 6pm weekdays, with bircher muesli, gourmet sandwiches and rolls, salads and cold-pressed juices. You can call ahead if you have a tight lunch break so that your food is ready and waiting. Ready-to-heat meals can be purchased to take home for dinner.

“A lot of cafes close early, before people finish work. People can come on their way home and get something - whether it’s cheeses, meats and biscuits to have people over, or a meal and salad for dinner. We will have these packaged and ready to go in the fridge.”
