The race to the top of the LJ Hooker League ladder continues on Saturday, with key clashes in the penultimate round before finals.
With over 100mm of rain falling in Lismore on Friday, matches will be questionable, but both Lismore teams will be away from their home grounds and may get the opportunity to play.
Goonellabah Workers Sports will travel to Tweed to Dave Burns Field to take on the Tweed Banora Colts in a must win match if they are to stay in the hunt for the minor premiership.
A tie last week against Cudgen, and a win by Tintenbar East Ballina, saw Goonellabah (82) drop to second spot on the ladder, three points behind Tintenbar on 85.
It won't be easy for the GWS side, with Tweed (79) sitting in third spot, just three points behind.
The top three places are close to locked, with Cudgen nine points behind on 70, with just this week and next week's rounds before the finals.
Terranora Lakes (64) and Lennox Head (61) have mathematical chances of making the semifinals but will require results to go their way.
Goonellabah will be looking to the big hitting of their top order to fire again after Jack Cooper set the competition alight last week with 139 off just 62 balls.
Brother Ben Cooper and Kevin Warid also have the ability to score quickly and get set opposition teams big totals.
Marist Brothers will travel to Casino to take on the Cavaliers at QE2, with both teams out of finals contention.
Brothers sit in 7th place, with Casino in 9th, but both teams will be looking for strong efforts to finish the season.
The Brothers side returned to form last week and will be looking for another win before taking on rivals Goonellabah Workers Sports in the final round next Saturday.
LJ Hooker League Semi Finals are scheduled for Saturday 14 March, with the Grand Final to be played the following week on Saturday 21 March.
Venues will be determined after next week's final round.
All matches on Saturday will commence at 1:00pm, weather and ground conditions permitting.
