Get ready, because the 12th Lismore Workers Masters Games is set to go ahead in 2021. From Friday, September 24 to Sunday, September 26 this year, Lismore will be the place to be for sports competitors over 30 years old.
Masters Games is a biennial event that last occurred in 2019 just before the world was rocked with news about COIVD-19 and a global pandemic that stopped all events in their tracks. This is one event that has impeccable timing.
The Masters Games was officially opened today by Games Committee Chair and Lismore App Sports Writer Matt Barlow, Games Ambassador and former Australian Cricket Captain, World Cup Winning Captain and inductee into the 2020 Australian Sport Hall of Fame Lyn Larsen, Mayor Vanessa Ekins, Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin and Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan at the Lismore Workers Club earlier today.
The Lismore App is proud to be one of the media sponsors for the Masters Games this year.

As has been the case in previous Games Lismore will welcome 1500 competitors to participate across 15 sports from all over the country:
As you can see, not only will there be some seriously competitive sport being played but some fun events that any fitness level can participate in with the Mini Games. Card lovers can play euchre, there is darts, snooker and indoor bowls. The focus here is on 'giving it a go' and having some fun.
Not only will there be a great deal of sporting activity to participate in or watch but it is a boost for the local economy as hotels and motels will be full, our sporting fields fully utilised and our support services stretched to make it a wonderful three days.
I say three days but it should read four days because this year's Lismore Cup is set down for Thursday, September 23.
“Sport is a cornerstone of a vibrant Lismore community and provides competitors a platform to test their skills but also enjoy the company of fellow competitors and participants away from the field," said Committee Chair Matt Barlow.
Lismore Mayor Vanessa Ekins added “The Games are about enjoyment and connection, being physically active and enjoying the hospitality of our great city which draws more than 1500 visitors to the city with an estimated more than $1 million into Lismore’s economy. We are very excited to have one of our premier sporting events back,” Mayor Ekins said.
If you are not too familiar with the Masters Games, participation is for those 30+.
You can register yourself as an individual, a group or a team via the Lismore Workers Masters Games website. Early Bird Registration is open from today to save you money and will remain open until June 30th, 2021. However, registrations will officially close on Saturday, August 14, 2021.
There is a special Masters Games button on the front page of the Lismore App that has all the information you require.
