As many Lismore App readers will know, we have been running a poll about the Dunoon Dam with the following question "Should the Dunoon Dam remain part of Rous County Council's 'Future Water Project 2060' plan?"
The poll began on May 1st and ended at 5pm yesterday Saturday May 8, seven days.
We received over 1000 votes but once people from other countries and other states were removed we were left with 860 votes. As you would expect on such a controversial issue the results are close with the Yes vote receiving 55.9% and the No vote 44.1%.
The Dunoon Dam debate has divided a community.
As we have stated before this is not a definitive poll, it was a simple Yes/No vote to engage Lismore App readers and get a sense of where people sit on a broader level than the vocal few on both sides of the fence.
Ultimately, it is up to you and your friends and family to register your thoughts with Rous County Council's 'Future Water Project 2060'. This is the official platform that really matters when Councillors (made up of two people from each local council, that is Lismore, Ballina, Richmond Valley and Byron) are presented with the communities feedback.
The On-Line form is the preferred option by Rous Councty Council and takes no more than 5 minutes to complete, while you can use the following options to have your voice heard:
In preparing your submission make sure you include the following details:
The more people that voice their opinion on the Rouc County Council' 'Future Water Project 2060' plan, including comments on the Dunoon Dam, the more informed the Councillors will be when it comes to finalising the strategic direction following the closing of submissions on May 28.
