The Easter Weekend Wrap

The four-day forecast for the Easter holiday looks to have some rain in it but that was always predictable for those staying in town. It is Easter after all.

At this stage, we are not talking about a lot of rain, 0 to 3mm, but it could be enough to be annoying, however, there will be enough sun to get in the garden or get out and about to enjoy the holiday.

Make the most of the final week of daylight saving as it ends next Sunday, April 7 when clocks get turned back 1 hour.

As you would expect, it is a very quiet Easter long weekend in Lismore. Markets and bushwalks are the order of the four days.

The Lismore Farmers markets are definitely on this Saturday from 7:30am till 11:30am at the Lismore Showgrounds.

You can pick yourself up some handmade Easter chocolates, fresh fruit & veg, flowers, food, coffee/tea and handmade items while listening to live music from Mish Songsmith.

It is a 5th Sunday in the month which means two Nimbin Markets in a row and yes, they will be running Easter Sunday from 9am to 3pm at 81 Cullen Street.

Make a day out in the hills with the markets and a bushwalk at Minyon Falls, Protestor Falls or the Big Scrub Loop. Check out Walks in your Lismore App.

Heritage Park is always a good place to take the family.

Brian runs the Miniature Railway around Heritage Park and will be operating over Easter:

Good Friday: 10am to 2pm

Saturday: 10:30am to 4pm

Sunday: 10:30am to 4pm

Easter Monday: 10am to 2pm

Tickets are $4 per adult, $4 per child with a family ticket $16 (group of 5 max).

For art lovers, the IAO Esoteric Arts in Oz exhibition is on at the Serpentine Gallery until next Saturday, April 6. Easter Saturday they will be open between 10am and 2pm at 104 Conway Street.

The winter sports kick into action after the Easter break. An excited Steve Mackney (General Manager Football Far North Coast) shared the news that 400 MiniRoos teams nominated for the 2024 season. This is a record, 50 more than ever before with the competition beginning in May.

The ANZAC Day Cup Finals are in action before the season proper kicks off next weekend as well as the NRRRL season.

As we head into a long weekend, the expectation is that fuel prices will rise but that is not the case in Lismore and Casino. Ballina has seen fuel rise a few cents on certain types of fuel.

Lismore has a brand new option with Astro now open on Ballina Road just after the bridge heading into town. It is worth checking out as it is the cheapest for Unleaded 91, U98 and Diesel today.

More competition will hopefully lead to lower petrol prices for Lismore as it has been the most expensive in the Northern Rivers in 2024 and the new 7-Eleven is not far away from opening in mid-April.

Here are your cheapest locations to fill up:

  • E10 is 196.9 across Lismore, 191.9 across Casino with the Metro on River Street, Ballina the cheapest at 193.9.
  • Unleaded 91 is 197.9 at the new Astron on Ballina Road, 193.9 across most petrol stations in Casino and 196.9 across Ballina.
  • U95 is 206.7 at the Independent on Wyrallah Road, East Lismore, 208.9 at the EG Ampol on Canterbury Street, Casino and 206.9 at the Shell at 323 River Street in Ballina.
  • U98 is 213.9 at the new Astron on Ballina Road, 214.9 at the United on Johnston Street in Casino and 214.9 at the Shell at 323 River Street, Ballina.
  • Diesel is 205.9 at the new Astron on Ballina Road, 211.9 at the United, the Casino Roadhouse and Nightowl Puma on Johnston Street and the Ampol on Dryaaba Street in Casino and 203.9 at the Metro in Ballina.

Have a great long weekend and Happy Easter from the Lismore App team!
