The Lismore Cup is on!

The sun is shining, the track is in perfect condition and the preparations have been finalised by the Lismore Turf Club staff for the 2025 Lismore Cup.

The track was inspected at 6am this morning and is currently a Good 4 and the weather is fine.

Lismore is expecting a top of 29 deg. and mostly sunny, a blessing for the Turf Club after a horrid run of cancellations.

This year's Cup Day will be the first Friday meeting held after the first attempt last year was washed out.

The big event also coincides with the Lismore Masters Games, who have adjusted several sports draws to accommodate the big community event.

The Lismore Golf Club hosted the Lismore Cup Golf Day and Calcutta on Thursday with huge numbers packing the course during the day and the club in the evening.

Those keen on the Calcutta did not stray too far from what the bookies currently see, with topweight Cranky Harry raising the most interest, just ahead of Flywheel and Anythink Goes.

The Cup will jump at 4:20pm, with Cranky Harry, trained by Matt Dunn in Murwillumbah and Anythink Goes, trained by Matthew Smith at Warwick Farm the equal favourites at $4.40.

Punters and bookies have four top chances, with Cunnamulla Fella ($4.80) and Flywheel ($4.60) both in the market.

The local chance is number 3, At Witz End, trained on the track by Danny Bowen, which is currently a $12 chance.

There is also plenty of action off the track with Fashions on the Field always a highlight.

The eight-race program will start at 12:45pm, with the last race set to jump at 5:00pm, which will be followed by the Billy Gudgeon Band.

Tickets are still available both online and at the gate for what promises to be a big day.
