Turn your trash into treasure at the biggest day of garage sales on the North Coast on September 28.

Second Hand Saturday will be held on Saturday, 28 September across Lismore, Ballina, Byron, Clarence Valley, Kyogle, Richmond Valley and Tweed regions.

The day gives you the chance to empty out your cupboards and turn your garage into a thrift shop.

Registrations for Second Hand Saturday are open until 4pm on Wednesday, September 18.

There will also be second chance sales organised for the following Saturday, October 5 if you wish to be involved for two weekends.

It is free to register for Second Hand Saturday and your garage sale will be advertised in local media and online. 

You can do it as an individual, with neighbours or friends, or with your local community group or church.

This event promotes recycling, re-using, and a sense of community and fun. 

During the 2017 and 2018 garage sales, over 4000 wheelie bins’ worth of second-hand items exchanged hands and participants said around 40% of this had been destined for landfill.
